Concord, MA – The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is proud to participate in the 250th anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, which took place on April 19, 1775. This monumental event marked the beginning of the American Revolution, a pivotal moment in the history of the United States. The SAR, along with partners across the nation, will commemorate this historic anniversary with a series of events and ceremonies beginning on April 18th, highlighting the bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism of those who fought for American independence.

The Battles of Lexington and Concord are often remembered as the “shot heard ‘round the world,” signifying the spark that ignited a revolution. The SAR will honor the heroes of these battles and recognize their enduring legacy, ensuring that future generations understand and appreciate the significance of their actions.

Event Overview and Schedule:

The 250th Anniversary celebrations will take place in and around the towns of Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts, with a series of events designed to educate the public, honor our Revolutionary War ancestors, and provide an opportunity for reflection on the founding of our nation.

These events will include a performance of Revolution’s Edge at Old North Church, illuminating the lanterns (2 if by sea) and a reenactment of Paul Revere’s midnight ride on Friday April 18th. Saturday, April 19th will include a reenactment of Lexington Green, a Dawn Salute at Old North Bridge, a Color Guard wreath laying at Old Hill Burying Ground, a Concord Patriot’s Day parade, and a Patriot’s Day Banquet at Boston Marriott Burlington. Hosted tours of Lexington and Concord will take place on Sunday, April 20th.

These websites will include detailed information on event times, locations, and how you can participate in these historic commemorations.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this historic milestone,” said Darryl Addington, President General of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. “The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the beginning of the American Revolution, and it is essential that we remember the sacrifice and courage of the patriots who fought for the freedom we enjoy today.”

The commemoration of Lexington and Concord is SAR’s signature 250th event in 2025 and is a part of SAR’s Decade of the American Revolution, which kicked off with the commemoration of 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party in 2023. The decade will end in 2033 with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Paris.
