The SAR Historic Sites and Celebrations Committee works to preserve, mark, and interpret historic sites and buildings; making recommendations to the national-level SAR, its state-level societies, and local chapters as appropriate. The committee monitors special historic celebration events and encourages SAR participation.
The list of Historic Sites and Celebrations has grown over the years since the first ones were formally established at a national level in the mid 90’s. The necessary information for establishing a new Historic Site or Celebration is contained in the . A schedule of events is available as well as a list of those celebrations below. Any new application is due to the committee one month before a Leadership meeting in order to be considered at that meeting. Membership recruitment is a real possibility at these events when there is significant public attendance.
