Common Questions About SAR

The Application Status Report can be found under the Compatriot's menu.  It does require an SAR member to login to the site before viewing the various reports available.

The supplemental ancestor process is very similar to your original membership application.  The following link is a basic users guide to assist you in the process:

The various genealogy polices of the SAR are reviewed and established by our Genealogy Committee.  If questions arise from those polices the contact should be either the Genealogy Committee Chairman or the Genealogist General.

The SAR does have copy services available and can cover a wide range of materials.  The following link will take you to those services:

Yes we do!  It is an hourly based service using a wide range of available materials.  More information can be found by clicking on the following link:

Your application was pended!  It is not the time to be concerned.

Wait for notification by your state point of contact.  If it is simple issue, he may have already taken care of it.  If it requires more, he will be able to explain the issue and assist in working through what will be needed to correct it.  

Always reach out to the Chapter Registrar or the State Point of Contact first regarding issues.

The National staff work with thousands of applications and may not be able to specifically help you with your issues.

Contact your Chapter Registrar.  

If you submitted your application through a Sponsor, and do not know the Chapter Registrar, contact your Sponsor.

Either the Chapter Registrar or Sponsor should be able to check on the status of an application.

Click on the Join option at the top of the screen and follow the process shown.

One of the first things to do is go to "Find Your Chapter" and find someone to assist you through the process.

No.  Our rules are such that you must be a member of a State Society.  Some State Societies may require membership in one of its Chapters, as well.  

Applying for membership begins at the local level.

Contact the State Society you may be joining, as each State Society establishes their own dues and fees.
