Working TO PRESERVE OUR NATION'S PAST

SAR is dedicated to assisting our members, schools, teachers and the general public in their efforts to sustain and preserve our history and constitutional principles.

WhO is The SAR?

Our Past Is Not Forgotten

By honoring those who served or assisted the colonies during the Revolutionary War.

Core Values Are Promoted

By protecting our Constitution and perpetuating American ideals and traditions.

Young Minds Are Shaped

By educating our youth about the Constitution and those who developed the American ideals and traditions.

The SAR is a patriotic, historical, and educational nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation. We seek to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom, patriotism and respect for our national symbols, including but not limited to promoting pride in being American citizens and the unifying force of e pluribus unum.

What are the origins of the SAR?

In 1876, there were many celebrations to commemorate the centennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. As part of this patriotic fervor, a group of men in the San Francisco, California, area who were descendants of patriots involved in the American Revolution, formed an organization called the Sons of Revolutionary Sires.

Compatriot Presidents of the United States

The SAR is proud of its compatriot presidents of the United States. We honor these SAR members who used their position as president to build a better America. Each remembered the founding of this great nation and the role of his Revolutionary War ancestor in making America the beacon of liberty and justice of all.

Compatriots who have received Congressional Medals of Honor.

The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States. It is generally presented by the president of the United States in the name of Congress and thus is often called the Congressional Medal of Honor.
